Shayla Bynum
Mrs. Shayla Bynum is a proud Fort Worth native who graduated from Southwest High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Wiley College, known as the Home of the Great Debaters, and later obtained her master’s degree in Education Administration from Concordia University in 2014.
With more than 18 years of experience in Fort Worth ISD, Mrs. Bynum has dedicated her career to serving students and families in a variety of roles, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade teacher, Data Analyst, and Assistant Principal. Her diverse experiences have strengthened her passion for student achievement, data-driven instruction, and building strong school communities.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Mrs. Bynum enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She is honored to serve the A.M. Pate Elementary community and remains committed to fostering a supportive, high-achieving environment for all students and staff.
Assistant Principal
Charles H. Chandler, Ed.D
Dr. Charles Chandler is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and a product of the Memphis Shelby County School System (MSCS). With more than 20 years of experience in education, he has served in various roles such as: Substitute Teacher, Special Education Assistant, Regular Classroom Teacher, Professional Learning Community Coach (PLC), Assistant Principal, and School Program Coordinator. He was recruited from Memphis and moved to Dallas in 2020 where he served as Assistant Principal and completed the Future Principals Institute in the Dallas Independent School District. Dr. Chandler is now a resident of Fort Worth and is committed to the community. He enjoys helping young people of all ages to succeed and realize their full potential.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from LeMoyne-Owen College and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Memphis. He also holds the Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Union University and a Doctor of Education with emphasis in Leadership and Management from Capella University Minneapolis, Minnesota. He believes that all children can learn, however with the support of high-quality and compassionate teachers they can become globally competitive in today's world.
Dr. Chandler enjoys traveling, relaxing, and spending quality time with his wife Elvita and four sons.
